First Day in ITALY

Onto the next city! I’m currently on a bus from Bologna, Italy, to Rome!

Side note: our final destination was Cesena for the weekend. Katie, my travel buddy this weekend, had an exchange student from Italy, named Roberta, live with her for a year in high school in Ohio (where Katie is from). They are like sisters, and we were going to Cesena, where Roberta grew up, and her family still has a house there. We were going so Katie could see Roberta, Cesena, and explore the coast•

On Thursday, March 31st, Katie and I left Prague at 10:45 am to head off to Rome, Italy! Katie lives on my dorm floor and is such a kind person. She honestly has such a good head on her shoulders, and I feel like I’m becoming a better person whenever I am with her, so traveling with her makes me really happy!

We landed in Rome at 12:30 and took a bus into the city for only 4 euros, and it took 40 minutes. We were on the top of a double-decker bus at the front, which was really nice for sightseeing!

We got to the train station and ended up having two hours before our train ride to Bologna and then a train to Cesena, so we went to a tiny restaurant and got a four-course lunch for only 11 Euros. We had a bread appetizer, pasta, then a meat and salad dish, and then fruit. It was so good and such a cute restaurant!

Then we headed off to get gelato (yes after eating 4 courses of food) and let me just tell you, it was so good!!! SO GOOD. All of the food.

They even had Nutella flavored just to win my heart over.

We ended up getting on a train to Bologna, Italy, and had no issues getting onto it, but it was a little late! While waiting for the train, I realized that I hadn’t contacted Julia, who was helping me by registering me for my classes at CU, since I didn’t have wifi all day. I finally got wifi for literally 5 minutes and found out she couldn’t get me into two management classes cause they were locked.

So naturally,

I FREAK OUT.

– At CU, you have to have certain classes done before senior thesis classes, and those were two I needed, so I had to call my mom on a train that went through so many tunnels and have her call the office for me cause I didn’t have their number and couldn’t Google it since I didn’t have wifi for long. It was stressful, but luckily, I have such amazing friends and family to help me figure it out! –

Once our train got to Bologna, since we were late due to the train being late, we had 5 minutes to find our connecting train to Cesena! We were running up and down and back and forth on at least 4 levels of a train station. It was awful, and we didn’t even get seats on the train, so we stood most of the way! I’m happy we made it through.

We got off the train and instantly met up with Roberta, who is so kind and fun! I feel very lucky to have gotten to meet her and get to know her.

We ate pizza at the best pizza place in town and then went home and slept!
