~This is written after hearing about the explosives that went off in Brussels that killed 17 people and injured many more. May those who died rest in peace, and may those who were injured heal and be reunited with their loved ones as soon as possible. ~
Although we are here in Europe during a time period that many might say is not very safe, I have never felt more alive in my life.
Yes, every corner we turn, there are police officers and men in uniform with machine guns, but I try not to think about that as much anymore.
What I have realized is that, although we could be in danger here at any moment, it is no excuse to not go to places like Paris, Brussels, and Rome. It is no excuse to live under a rock.
I had the best time of my life in Brussels, and what if I had stayed at home that weekend because I was scared?
The situation and what many are thinking back at home may be true, we are not safe traveling right now to every big city in Europe, but I do not regret one second of it. Although it can be a little scary, I refuse to let a group of people determine how I live. I will not be held back by them.
I will continue to be careful, and I am much more aware of people and my surroundings, but I will not let my experience here be decided by something that I have no control over anyway.
All I know is that I am happy here and that I am not afraid of living my life to the fullest. I will continue to travel to big cities, and I will never let someone determine what I do.
I know that with my faith and strength, I can and will do anything. I am going to continue traveling, and I look forward to more experiences in different countries in Europe!
